Happy New Year from my winter wonderland!

The picture above was taken from my front porch, showing not only the most recent snow we've had, but the damage to my fence from falling trees.

Have you made any resolutions? I want to, but a long acquaintance with myself leads me to believe that they won't be kept, no matter how well-intentioned they are. This year, I'm going to limit myself to little resolutions, like, "I resolve to watch the entire six hours of the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice without once visibly drooling over Colin Firth." [Note the qualifier "visibly" in there--anything else would be downright impossible.] I hope you have better luck keeping your resolutions than I do mine.

The purpose of this month's newsletter is two-fold: the first purpose is to say "Hi, how are you, how's everything going, and did you have a nice holiday?" The second purpose is to announce a few things going on.

Things going on number 1: Recently, I updated my Printable Book List to reflect the 2007 books.

Coming up in April is a Dark Ones book--The Last of the Red Hot Vampires. Despite its title, this is NOT the last of my vampire books! This particular book deals with a couple of new elements to the Otherworld, one of which is the Court of Divine Blood, something I'm particularly excited about exploring. Check out the link above to read an excerpt of the book.

October will bring with it an anthology of paranormal stories that is currently titled The Gods Must Be Crazy (one of my favorite movies, by the way). This anthology features stories set in modern day Ireland and Sweden, and was heavily influenced by both Celtic and Scandinavian mythology. Those of you who were fans of the Fran and Ben young adult books may be interested to know that one of the novellas features Viking ghosts--not the same ones who were in Circus of the Darned, but a manly group of ghosts nonetheless.

Aisling, Drake, and all the others will be back in November, in Holy Smokes, the fourth Aisling Grey book. This book promises to be a dilly since it will include both Aisling's dealings with the blue dragons, and the unveiling of the wyvern of the black dragon sept.

Things going on number 2: It's contest time! Kinda. Rather than having a plain old contest for one of the nineThe Last of the Red Hot Vampires ARCs available, I decided to conduct a little reader survey to get the scoop on you, the reader.

Why? Well, I'm curious as to what the demographic of my readers is--I know it's predominately female, and includes people who have very good senses of humor, but as for the rest--age range, preferences, shoe size...eh. It's all a big unknown. And although I could call each and every one of you in order to ply you with a gazillion questions, it will take much less time and effort if I just conduct a little online survey instead.

The rules to the contest are simple--trot over to the contest page and fill out the survey there. On March 1st, I'll randomly pick nine e-mail address from those of you who submitted entries, and fire off to all the winners a signed copy of The Last of the Red Hot Vampires ARC.

And lest you worry that I will be sharing your deepest, darkest secrets with everyone--fear not. The info collected is only for my own use, and no one else will see it.

Things going on number 3: This is a tricky one, since I can't actually talk about it yet, but I have received a contract from a network studio which wishes to work with me on a very exciting project. All I can say about it is that it would bring to life a series of my books. Fingers crossed it moves forward so I can actually tell you all about it!

As ever, if you have comments or questions, feel free to drop me a line. And have a fabulously healthy, happy, and prosperous new year!

~ Katie
